ABOUT THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Artistic Director Jeannie Mark: QSM, ARAD, MDDA

Welcome to the website of DANCE on grove. I have been an established Dance Teacher in the Marlborough region  operating a successful Studio since 1980

I was a graduate of the NZ School of Dance and then won a contract with the Royal NZ Ballet under the Directorship of the late Harry Haythorne. After a few Years of touring and tiring of the life style her love of Marlborough brought her home to her family and took pride in stepping into the footsteps of her Ballet teacher the late Betty Vercoe and to follow in her legacy.

Launching my first studio in 1980 - the  'Jeannie Gill Academy of Dance'  I began teaching in a hall both ballet and open jazz classes. I tutored students for cometitive work and slowly built the Studio into success. 17 Years later I then co-directed  the  'Marlborough Dance Centre'  which grew over the next 20 Years. This Year a change of direction and re-booting myself we have a new look 'DANCE on grove' which gives me the scope to venture in whatever path I wish to take it.

I am Life Member for the Royal Academy of Dance  having been a registered teacher, which enables us to enter our students into the RAD examinations. I  also mentor up and coming teachers for the RAD teachers programme  to attain their teacher qualification status. I taught Jazz to Solo Seal level for many Years and was also a NZ examiner for the American Jazz Syllabus which the late Mary Evers established . I have also tutored RAD Ballet at summer schools and has had many students follow a professional Dance or teaching career over the Years.

I love to  choreograph shows for Musical Theatre and have produced and directed in excess of 85 theatre productions in both Marlborough and Nationally. My love of Theatre is a passion that I take much pride in developing young and raw talent into  up and coming Stars.

I am so very Proud of the success of my  Students  and teachers and I love my Vocation.
